Brehon B. Somervell


Brehon Burke Somervell was a General in the United States Army and Commanding General of the Army Service Forces in World War II. As such he was responsible for the U.S. Armys logistics. Following his death, the Washington Post lauded him as one of the ablest officers the United States Army has produced.

Brehon Burke Somervell was born onMay 1892 in Little Rock, Arkansas, the only child of William Taylor Somervell, a physician, and wife Mary ne Burke, a schoolteacher. The two of them opened Belcourt Seminary, a girls finishing school in Washington, D.C., in 1906.
